William Ashford PRHA (1746-1824)
The role of William Ashford in Irish landscape painting cannot be understated - he enjoyed a reputation as the premier landscapist, producing a large body of work, much of it engraved for books and periodicals. Elected President of the Irish Society of Artists in 1813, he was also a founding member and first elected President of the RHA.
