For such a seemingly small space, The Very Small Galley has an amazing amount of pictures in it, but is still light and airy with a welcoming atmosphere. There are pictures and sculptures by approximately 60 different artists on display both downstairs and upstairs.
The Very Small Gallery shows a wide range of art to allow for all tastes and pockets, from artists both local and further afield. The majority of the pictures are smallish in size and go from 60`s retro to landscapes in different styles with animals, portraits, flowers, local scenes, photographs and more contemporary work. Apart from original watercolours, oils and drawings there is also a collection of various prints by different artists. This is a very interesting and affordable way to start a collection of ones own artwork. but the work has been chosen to cover as wide a choice of subject and style as possible and there is always new work coming in. The advantage of this is that you can decide on a certain artists style and perhaps have the picture you want painted for you. The Very Small Gallery will also take a deposit to secure a piece for you until you are ready to collect it., useful when there is a wedding , birthday, Christmas or just a special occasion.
Artist Sandra Vernon is running the Gallery, and will be making use of her time there, apart from talking about the other artists work to visitors to the gallery, in working on her collection of local scenes both in pen and ink and watercolour. There is also some of her unusual papier mache lamps and sculptures on display.
The Gallery also accepts commissions, so if there is a family picture you would like or maybe a loved pet or your family home - it can be done! |
